THE APPROACH

How do you design in-house for a corporate brand working in a remote setting?

My time at Good Sam included email designs using Stripo to be sent to the masses, updating digital materials to newer Good Sam branding guidelines, and creating print and digital materials for our final internship capstone project. Remote work demanded a heightened sense of discipline and organization, prompting me to hone my time management skills in order to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively. Working for Good Sam, I developed my skills in branding, image retouching, print, and email design, networking, and project-management.

Coast to Coast is part of the travel pillar of the Good Sam brand. Through resort memberships, Coast to Coast members are able to travel more and spend less at some of the finest outdoor resorts in the country. My time working on “Our Favorite Resorts”, a campground guide for Coast to Coast members, included tedious work of updating 79 resort pages to newer Good Sam branding guidelines and communicating back and forth with the copywriters and marketing team. The new campground guide now sits on their Coast to Coast website, as pictured to the right.

Designing emails for Good Sam required knowledge of different branding standards for each email deployment. Effective communication with the digital marketing team was necessary to understand every emails needs and motivations. Although image selection and working within specific branding regulations sometimes was challenging, partaking in design reviews and receiving feedback from managers was beneficial to create successful designs. One of my goals for designing email creative was to reduce the communication back and forth with the digital marketing and copywriting team to deploy emails at a faster rate.
