Wholesome Products, LLC is a food manufacturing company that specializes in frozen entrees that can be made ready in just a few minutes and purchased through Frozen Foodies. Along with microwaveable meals, Wholesome Products has also produced for Daily Harvest and Just Food For Dogs.
My time at Wholesome Products has included designing food packaging labels for a plant-based Frozen Foodies line using Adobe Illustrator that incorporated brand identity design, while also creating nutritional panels and ingredient statements for each recipe. During the internship, I communicated with the production warehouse and office departments in a fast-paced environment that required time-management and organizational skills for results driven success.

Wholesome Products Internship
Creating food packaging labels for a plant-based line required researching trends on Pinterest and current packaging designs in grocery stores to better understand the content on plant-based labels. A final mood board and style guide were created to showcase the Frozen Foodies brand identity combined with a vegan-friendly design.
Research
This packaging label required the design to be made on a “sleeve” which initially made it difficult to fit all the content and design elements into such a small space. After multiple drafts and feedback from management and the chef, a design was finalized. My goal in working on this deliverable was to generate accurate nutritional panels and ingredient statements for each recipe while incorporating the Frozen Foodies brand identity with a modern, simple, and vegan-friendly feel.
Challenges & Goals
By designing a food packaging label that could be used for each of the 12 plant-based recipes, Wholesome Products could begin food production using the sleeves as the final element added to the frozen entree. Once the frozen entrees were produced, they could be shipped out to customers using the Frozen Foodies plant-based boxes. These restaurant-quality entrees can be enjoyed in the comfort of one’s own home and made ready-to-eat in just 5 minutes.
