JustBe is a marketing and design project for a brand called “JustBe”, which incorporates social media posts, flyers, a website, an app design, merchandise, and business cards. This project explores brand image and identity for an imaginary social campaign that is designed to improve the mental health of pre-teens and early teens (ages 10-14).

The mission of this project is to allow pre-teens to “just be” themselves without feeling the need to fit into a certain influencer role. Through initial research and working with my team members, I expanded skills in branding, merchandising, and social media marketing.

JustBe

JustBe is an imaginary brand that targets female pre-teens with the goal to improve mental health for this target population and help them learn more coping mechanisms, especially in relation to the use of social media. My time working on this project involved creating social media campaigns, a basic layout of an app, flyers, a logo and brand design, and merchandise.

About

My group and I wanted to make a social campaign that was appealing to the pre-teen age group, but not seem too childish. After researching TikTok and Instagram trends, as well as creating a style guide, we settled in on a brand image that is playful, slightly retro, and polished. Although it was initially difficult to narrow a design focus, the brand image eventually came into focus through peer interviews, social media research, and aesthetics inspiration.

Challenges & Goals

Our solution for spreading mental health awareness among pre-teens is through a social campaign that will live on Instagram and serve to spread awareness of JustBe in its entirety. By creating a website mockup, mobile app, logo, merchandise, and social media posts, the brand JustBe comes to life as a playful and polished brand encouraging positivity and comfortability in one’s own skin.
